Call to Prayer

We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 14

The Fool Says, There Is No God

To the choirmaster. Of David.

14:1   The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds;
there is none who does good.
The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man,
to see if there are any who understand,
    who seek after God.
  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt;
there is none who does good,
    not even one.
Have they no knowledge, all the evildoers
who eat up my people as they eat bread
and do not call upon the LORD?
There they are in great terror,
for God is with the generation of the righteous.
You would shame the plans of the poor,
but the LORD is his refuge.
Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD restores the fortunes of his people,
let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

Ephesians 3:1-6

The Mystery of the Gospel Revealed

3:1 For this reason I, Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus on behalf of you Gentiles—assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly. When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit. This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Reflection

How shall you live in loving obedience to God’s Word today? Pray for God’s help.

Prayer of Confession

Almighty Father, I confess that I have sinned against You in my thoughts, words, and actions especially:

I am truly sorry and humbly repent. Thank You for forgiving my sins through the death of Your Son, Jesus.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
Your Kingdom come,
Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Prayer of Supplication

Pray for God the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth, to strengthen you and this Church with a glorious inner strength by His Spirit so that Christ may dwell in our hearts through confidence in Him, that we would be rooted and grounded in love and truly know with all of the family of God how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is—to know the love of Christ that transcends all natural knowledge and live full lives in the fullness of God.

Weekly Collect

O God, whose blessed Son made himself known to his disciples in the breaking of bread: Open the eyes of our faith, that we may behold him in all his redeeming work; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
